Chad became hooked on fishing at the age of 6 after catching his first Kenai River Silver Salmon. In 1988, he moved to Park City to pursue his other passion, powder skiing. At that time, he wanted to find a way to make his passions into his professions. With fly fishing, the natural path was to become a fly fishing guide. He was introduced to The Green River below Flaming Gorge dam by his friend Tom Knight where he has spent the last 17 years guiding clients into huge trout in gin clear water. With skiing, ski patrol drew his interest where he is now the director of snow safety at Park City Mountain Resort during the winter months.
When the opportunity presented itself Chad decided to take the next step and became an outfitter by purchasing Trout Bum 2 in the winter of 2005. He looks forward to sharing his knowledge and ideas in order to further improve the "best fly shop in Utah."
When the summer ends and the snow is not flying, you can find Chad on the Deschutes River in Oregon covering distant lies for summer steelhead or stalking trophy elk in the hills surrounding Flaming Gorge. He is a passionate and enthusastic outdoorsman always looking forward to the next chance to get outside.
