Trout Bum 2 is proud to have on staff some of the best Utah Fly Fishing Guides around. We hire only the most experienced and knowledgeable guides to ensure that you have the best possible experience on the water. Many of the guides have been on staff since the shop’s inception many years ago and have a vast amount of experience guiding anglers of all ability levels and ages. Our guides are based in Park City and Salt Lake City and are well versed in our core waters of the Provo River, Weber River and Green River. In addition many are experienced in a range of lesser known waters throughout the rest of the state of Utah. Chad Jaques - Shop Owner & Head Guide

Chad is the owner of Trout Bum 2 and a veteran Green River guide having guided there since the early 1990s. Chad enjoys all aspects of fly fishing and loves throwing streamers and fishing dry flies to rising trout but is also happy running indicator rigs and deep nymphs when that's where the fish are. Passionate about steelhead especially the amazing Dean River steelhead, Chad is a well traveled and accomplished angler. Chad loves spending as much time on the Green River as possible when he is not busy spending time with his family and running the shop. A day with Chad is all about relaxing, catching plenty of fish and not fishing around other anglers.

Aaron Adams - Local Streams Guide

Aaron was born and raised in Salt Lake City and has spent most of his adult years chasing fish with a fly rod both locally and globally. Aaron is one of our primary small streams guides and he knows the waters of Utah intimately. Beyond the local trout of the Provo, Weber and other area streams, Aaron loves to pursue steelhead and saltwater species as often as he can. A day with Aaron will have you exploring one of the amazing local or regional waters during prime time as Aaron knows where the fish are active and the hatches are going.

Mark "Colesy" Cole

Mark Cole "Colesy" - Local Streams & Green River Guide

Colesy grew up in an Air Force family, moving and living all over the world. When these travels took his family to live in Alaska, he learned to seriously fish and the fishing bug was ignited for life. He spent his high school years in Minnesota and went to Gustavus College. Colesy got his first fly rod in 1977, subsequently moved to Park City, Utah in 1980 and started exploring the waters of Utah and surrounding states. A day on the water with Colesy will put a smile on your face and some fish on the end of your line.

Mark Cooper- Local Streams Guide

Mark Cooper was introduced to fly fishing at a young age by his father, and was catching panfish in New England ponds before he ever knew what trout were. After working for the Orvis company back east, he decided to make the move to the mountains to pursue the fish that live there. Mark has fished in many parts of the world, and loves talking with clients about their experiences. Fishing with Mark will have you catching a few fish, having a few laughs and enjoying the time on the water.

Kip Dakil - Local Streams Guide

Kip, one of our local guides, has several years of experience fly fishing for both cold and warm water species. Growing up in Texas, he spent his childhood and adolescent years bass fishing with his family and friends. At age 12 he was exposed to fly fishing on the Green River in Wyoming. As soon as he wrapped up studying at Baylor University, Kip moved out west to pursue a career in fly fishing and the outdoors. He currently lives in Park City, and works as a ski instructor during the winter months.

MIkey Freyvogel - Local Streams Guide

Michael grew up near Pittsburgh in southwestern Pennsylvania fishing all over, from the small Appalachian mountain streams to the mighty 3 rivers in Pittsburgh. Michael's dog, Dora, has been seen on over 500 guide trips over the years and continues to be one of the many great memories the two of them create on the river.

Brian Kapaloski - Green River Guide

Brian is a veteran Green River guide and a full time, year-round Dutch John resident and fishes the Green 12 months a year.  Chasing hatches and stalking risers is his favorite method of pursuing trout and the blanket Green River hatches draw him to the water. Brian is a fanatical and passionate steelheader who spends all of his time off during the winter and fall seasons pursuing them with a spey rod. Brian enjoys teaching anglers the nuances of the sport especially when his client is very enthusiastic and as passionate as he is. If hunting risers and chucking streamers in pursuit of a trophy are what you're looking for, Brian is a great choice to float the Green.

Kory Kapaloski - Green River Guide

A Utah native who has spent his life fishing Utah waters and exploring waters worldwide, Kory helped start Trout Bum 2 in 1999 along with fellow shop manager Harley Jackson and the first owner, Rick Hansen. He left the shop in 2006 to pursue other interests, but he still works on the website and internet marketing efforts. Kory started guiding on Utah's Green River in 1992 when he was 18 years old but doesn't guide much these days. Kory fishes as often as he can when not spending time with his daughter who he stays at home full time with. Time on the water for Kory is all about exploring new water, hunting risers and throwing a streamer if there are no heads.

Logan Kellenberger

Logan Kellenberger - Local Streams Guide

Logan was born and raised in Sussex County, New Jersey, and fell in love with fly fishing when his agriculture teacher Mr. Pede introduced him to the sport. The first fly rod he ever had, he hand built in Mr. Pede’s class. He found himself in Utah to attend the University of Utah for Civil and Environmental Engineering, where he has been fishing the local waters for 5 years now. If Logan could fish 365 days a year, 7 days a week, he would certainly do it. He is constantly researching and learning different techniques to better his craft. Logan enjoys exploring new waters and finding hidden gems along the Provo, Weber, and Green Rivers. Logan is an easy going guide and a day on the water will be spent learning new techniques, facts about the surrounding area, and catching a few fish along the way.

Derek Krueger - Local Sterams Guide

Born in Cleveland Ohio Derek started fly fishing at the age of 13. He fished locally in Cleveland, and at the age of 14 he moved to Lake Placid, New York where he explored many well known trout streams in the Adirondack mountains. Shortly after that he followed his two passions of fishing and skiing and moved out to Park City, Utah. He has been guiding with trout bum since 2021 also while pursuing his athletic career on the United States Ski Team.

Mike Matthews - Local Streams Guide

Michael is from the great state of Montana; early on he knew the outdoors is where he wanted to spend the majority of his time. Michael spent much of his youth in the mountains of Montana, skiing, hiking, backpacking, camping and fishing many lakes and streams near where he grew up. Michael was 14 when he picked up his first fly rod after he and his friends decided they were all going to learn to fly-fish. During the off-season when Michael wasn’t playing soccer or skiing, you could find him on the water. After a fairly long hiatus, Michael realized there was something missing and since then fly-fishing has consumed a huge part of his life. The past decade Michael has spent a great deal of time and energy developing his skills as an angler and upon meeting him, you can tell he has a great amount of passion for the sport of fly-fishing. He has spent the last 5 years guiding as a professional angler around Utah’s streams and rivers.

Dan McCrudden - Green River Guide

Dan McCrudden hails from Pennsylvania originally and has been fly fishing and guiding in Utah since 2013. Dan learned to fly fish at a very young age. Specifically, in the famed State college area of Pennsylvania on the Spring, Penns and Yellow Breaches. After attending college at Colorado State University, Dan moved to Utah to pursue his passion for fly fishing and backcountry skiing. He loves the sport, the places it takes him to, and the people he fishes with along the way.

Kerry Sundahl - Local Streams Guide

Kerry grew up in Park City and has been fishing the Provo, Weber and other local streams her entire life. When she isn’t fishing our amazing local waters, she loves to travel the world with her fly rod, angling for bonefish, tarpon, permit, redfish, steelhead and anything else that will eat a fly. While managing the shop at Trout Bum 2 she went back to school to earn her bachelor of science in nursing. She balances out her nursing career with spending time on the water whenever she can. Kerry is an enthusiastic and patient guide who wants to share her knowledge and love of angling with others. A day on the water with Kerry will produce many smiles and plentiful fish.

Jack Williams - Green River Guide

Jack Williams was taught how to fly fish by his father as a kid and has been pursuing his passion for the sport ever since. Although trout are what Jack chases with the fly rod most often, he enjoys all types of fishing. After moving out west after graduating from college, Jack has been guiding both locally and on the Green River. In his free time, Jack can be found driving around the Western US in search of big brown trout. Jack is an easy-going guide whose main goal is to teach others about the sport of fly fishing while also putting fish in the net with streamers, dries, and nymphs. In the off season, Jack spends his time driving a snowcat grooming the slopes of Deer Valley and finding powder turns wherever he can.

Mitch Zyzelewski - Local Streams Guide

Mitch is from Kalamazoon, Michigan and he grew up fishing the Ausable and other small streams in Michigan. He came to Utah in 2015 to pursue a passion for skiing. Mitch currently spends his winters skiing and summers on the water. He loves spending time on the water and getting to fish with people from all walks of life.
