Green River Fishing Report 07/08/2026

    Current Conditions Summary Double peak flows currently happening. At the dam from 6:45am to 9:45am and 4:00pm to 9:00pm the river is at around 3000cfs the rest of the time its between 1300cfs-1700cfs. Caddis and PMds are the main hatch bugs. Small ants have been picking up steam. Discharge: Double peak between 1300cfs and 3000cfs Clarity: Crystal clear (Section A is gin-clear; B & C may have slight tint if Red Creek is flowing, but generally clear). Water Temp: Between 56°F and 58°F. Outlook: Flow schedule can and probably will change. Weather & Timing Best Window: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM. Weather: Highs in the high-80s, lows dipping into the low-60s. Strategy: Fishing has been good at no matter the flow. Nymphing and streamers have been good during the peroids of flow raising and dropping. Dry fly has been good all day but best during the low flow peroids. Hatches & Bug Activity Caddis: Sporadic throughout the day and more prolific in the evenings. PMD: The main hatch occurring currently mid morning through mid afternoon. Scuds/Sow Bugs: A constant food source in the moss beds, especially in Section A. Yellow Sallies: Dwindling down but still some around. Recommended Flies Nymphs (Sub-surface) Scuds: #16-18 (Olive, Grey, Tan) . Caddis: #14-18 (Translucent Pupa (tan), Birds nest, Swing Caddis (tan). PMD: #16-18 (Magic Fly, Split Case, Barr Emerger) Yellow Sallies: #12 Iron Sallie Dries (Surface) Caddis: #14-16 (X Caddis, Front End Loader, Peacock Caddis). PMD: #16-18 (Comparadun, Film Critic, CDC Thorax PMD). Green River Fishing Report 05/17/2026

    Current Conditions Summary From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. the Green River is hovering around 1100 CFS, and between those times there is a nighttime bump to 1500 CFs then it is brought back down to 1100 CFS in the morning. Fishing has been good and consistent post-high water. Discharge: ~1100 CFS (Steady releases). Clarity: Crystal clear (Section A is gin-clear; B & C may have slight tint if Red Creek is flowing, but generally clear). Water Temp: ~48°F. Outlook: Flows will likely remain steady at this level for the foreseeable future.  Weather & Timing Best Window: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Weather: Highs in the high-60s, lows dipping into the low-30s. Strategy: The deep canyon walls keep the water shaded early and late. Focus your efforts on the sunlit hours when the water warms slightly, triggering midge and blue wing activity. With the flows subsiding, we are seeing more blue wings throughout the day, keep your eyes peeled for Caddis & Cicadas, we are still on the early side, but they should be around.  Hatches & Bug Activity Midges: clouds of tiny midges (#22-26) are active in the slicks and eddies most mornings. Blue-Winged Olives (BWOs): The main hatch occurring currently. Scuds/Sow Bugs: A constant food source in the moss beds, especially in Section A. Recommended Flies Nymphs (Sub-surface) Scuds: #14-18 (Olive, Grey, Tan) . Midges: #20-24 (Zebra Midge, bling midge, WD-40s in Black, Red, Grey). BWOs: #18-22 (Pheasant tails, Two Bits, RS2s, Stalcup Baetis) Dries (Surface) Midge Dry: #20-24 (Griffith’s Gnat, Matt’s Midge, Sprout Midge). BWO Dry: #18-22 (CDC Dun, Parachute Adams, Cripples, Film Critic). Para Cricket:  For dry dropper uses that may still see action Streamers Articulated Patterns: (Goldie, Dungeon, Circus Peanut) Woolly Buggers: #6-10 (Black, Olive, gold)

Current Conditions Summary The Green is still at base flows. Decent dry fly and nymphing activity on most days. Streams still producing in low light/cloudy days. Flow & Water Discharge: ~850 CFS (Steady releases). Clarity: Crystal clear (Section A is gin-clear; B & C may have slight tint if Red Creek is flowing, but generally clear). Water Temp: ~45°F. Outlook: Flows will likely remain steady at this level. Until the Spring Peak LTSP release later this spring Weather & Timing Best Window: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
