Green River Fishing Report 04/14/2023

Location

Green River Below Flaming Gorge Dam

Overview

The Green below Flaming Gorge Dam is flowing at 850 cfs. This fishing has been good, we are seeing both blue wings and midges throughout the day. The fish have not quite turned onto the BWO’s yet, but you can still find heads up as you move down the river. Streamer fishing is not the most productive option, but still an option if you are keen. Nymphing midges, scuds, and BWO’s will be most productive.

Green River Below Flaming Gorge Dam

Overview:  Some Big Dry action

High water has come and gone. Base flow throughout most of the day is 850cfs. There is a short lived bump to 2000cfs in the afternoon/evening so dont get caught out on the other side of the river. There is still a planned high water for to eliminate the bass spawn in late June we’ll update when we know those dates. But for the information your really looking for, CICADAS! They’re out on upper B and most of A in the size 8-10 variety. there has been some of the truly big boys out as well but seem to be sporadic. On the cold days theres still some BWO’s hanging around. Hopefully we’ll see some yellow sallies, pmds, and caddis soon as well.

Green River Fishing Report 05/15/22

Location

Green River Below Flaming Gorge Dam

Overview:  Some Big Dry action

Flows have come up and the daily average is now around 1800 CFS. Flows start at 1100 in the morning and bump up to 2350 at the dam around 11 am every morning another bump takes it up to 2429 at 5 pm. Midges and BWO’s are still hatching. The fishing changes each day when the water comes up. Keep in mind it takes a while for the bump in water to reach all the way down to section C. During the morning hours or during the periods of low (1100) cfs the fish are working on small midges and BWO nymphs, we have been getting them on shallow rigs and deep rigs. After the water comes up the fish seem to want larger nymphs Scuds, worms, and using a larger BWO Nymph has worked also. We were very happy to also have some good days on the larger dries last week fish were looking up and we were able to get good action on the lower river with the MFC para-cricket. Streamer are still fishing well at times try them late in the day if you are out for an afternoon and evening float.
