Middle Provo River Fishing Report 10/08/2021

Location

Middle Provo River

Overview

The Provo has been at 150cfs since the end of September. The drop in flows has made the fishing a little bit trickier. With the colder weather we have started to see a strong baetis hatch especially on the cloudy days. Try a variety of small (22-24) midges and gray and olive baetis emergers. There has been a couple sporadic sightings of October caddis.

Middle Provo River Fishing Report 6/04/2021

Location

Middle Provo River

Overview

The middle provo has held steady at 325cfs for about a month now. Trout are moving around and in the riffles as well as the classic holes. Caddis have been sporadic and only seen in a few places. But they are starting to eat caddis nymphs regularly throughout the river. A few sporadic pmd sightings and no reports of Drakes yet. Nymphing is still the name of the game with sporadic dry fly opportunities.

Middle Provo River Fishing Report 5/19/2021

Location

Middle Provo River

Overview

The Middle Provo has been bumped since our last report, but this is a good thing. At ~325 cfs the river has more spots to fish than earlier this spring. The trout have started moving around so consider changing up your routine. The caddis are around, but the baetis nymphs are still working. Evening caddis hatches will start to get better. A few stoneflies have been sighted.

Middle Provo River Fishing Report 4/21/2021

Location

Middle Provo River

Overview

The Middle has been fishing well recently. In the morning the midge patterns should be the most productive. There is a chance you will see a baetis hatch midday. It is usually in small groups, but the fish are keyed in on them. Baetis like overcast days, so don’t let the inclement weather keep you from fishing the hatch. Dry flies can work, but like always nymphing will be the most productive. I predict we are going to have a light tippet summer, so get used to fishing with 6X or 7X.
