Our Utah fly fishing reports offer a brief overview of current conditions on our waters. You'll find fishing reports for the main Utah rivers and streams that we guide on and fish regularly. Reports for the Lower Provo, Middle Provo, Weber River, Green River and Small Streams are included.
We write the reports based on our daily experiences on the water and information received from customers. We update the reports as conditions change and our schedule permits. If you don’t see what you are looking for, please give us a call at the shop or contact us here. We are always happy to update you with current conditions on many other Utah waters and fisheries in surrounding states as well.
Following are the latest reports in descending order of when they were last updated. As a result, you may see multiple reports on the same destination if we haven't updated one of the other destinations recently. Location Area Small Streams Overview Small stream fishing has been good, some streams are fishing better than others. Water temps across the board seem to be pretty stable and consistent. We are seeing some PMD's, baetis, midges, and small hoppers are starting to make an appearance. Early mornings and afternoons have been some of the more productive hours (before and after the highest heat times of the day.) Location Area Small Streams Overview Small stream fishing has been good in a couple spots so far, but many of the small streams are about to go nuts. You need to watch the water levels, and make your choices based on the stream flows, with seasons like this the fishing will be great if you catch one of the small streams right as it clears and warms. Stoneflies, Green Drakes, Yellow Sallies, all set to go off very soon. The next 10 days to 2 weeks will produce some epic fishing on the small streams. Location Weber River Overview The Weber has been fishing well despite the high flows. Some Yellow sallies are hatching and some PMD's. The nymph fishing has been very good, just like the Provo, finding good water is the most challenging part of the day. Sow bugs and worms are catching them well, also the mayhem in black or grey. The farther down you go (towards Echo) the water gets more and more off color, so the better fishing is closer to Rockport Dam. Location Middle Provo River Overview The Middle Provo is moving at flowing just under 1800 cfs. from the Dam. While the water is high and moving quick the fishing is still good. Targeting slower moving parts of the river has been very productive. The fish or gorging on nymphs mostly worms and sow bugs. The most difficult task has been finding the good water, when you get a good spot (slower moving water with some depth) the fish are stacked there and catching them has been pretty easy (we are getting away with using 4X tippett). The afternoon has been good also many of the half day guide trips are leaving the river around noon opening up some of the best spots for the afternoon angler. A few fish are rising, and they can be caught. Location Green River Below Flaming Gorge Dam Overview The Green below Flaming Gorge Dam is still flowing at 825 cfs. This fishing has been good, we are seeing some crickets, some limited Cicadas, and very good fishing overall right now. The water temperature is rising quickly, and we expect to see Yellow sallies in the lower river very soon. The crickets (regular small black ones, not the large Mormon crickets) are producing some good dry fly action and the dry and dropper fishing is good also. Nymph fishing has been excellent. The lower river has cleared and is fishable now, (this could change with thunderstorms) time for the lower B section and C section.
