Our Utah fly fishing reports offer a brief overview of current conditions on our waters. You'll find fishing reports for the main Utah rivers and streams that we guide on and fish regularly. Reports for the Lower Provo, Middle Provo, Weber River, Green River and Small Streams are included.
We write the reports based on our daily experiences on the water and information received from customers. We update the reports as conditions change and our schedule permits. If you don’t see what you are looking for, please give us a call at the shop or contact us here. We are always happy to update you with current conditions on many other Utah waters and fisheries in surrounding states as well.
Following are the latest reports in descending order of when they were last updated. As a result, you may see multiple reports on the same destination if we haven't updated one of the other destinations recently. You can also use the following links to each category: Lower Provo, Middle Provo, Weber River, Green River and Small Streams :
Location Lower Provo River Overview The Lower Provo is still flowing at about 700 CFS out of Deer Creek Reservoir. The river is high and the fishing has been decent. Where you can find flatter and slower water you can usually find fish. It is tricky with the higher flows but there are opportunities for good Dry Fly fishing and Nymphing. There are still some Caddis, and PMD's hatching throughout the day, but the hatch is much more sporadic with the higher flows. Watch out for tubers! As we move into fall and school picks back up, we will start to see less and less tubers. Fishing Good Current Hatches Sow Bugs (18-22) PMD's (18-20) Caddis (16-18) Midges (22-24) Hoppers (12-14) Best Techniques nymphing, dry fly TIme of day Sun up to Sun down
Location Area Small Streams Overview Most small streams are fishing very well. Some Rivers are too warm to fish or too low to fish. For those that are cold, be wary fishing into the warmest parts of the day, as water will warm up quick. We have been seeing Hatch bugs (PMD's, Caddis, Stoneflies) on many rivers as well as small hoppers and other small Terrestrials. The Beulah fire is still burning on the North Slope of the Uintas and is now at 4000+ acres and 0% containment, so keep that in mind if you are heading that way to explore. Location Green River Below Flaming Gorge Dam Overview From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. flows are sitting around 1600 CFS. Dry fly fishing has been good with lulls throughout the day. Nymphing has been just as productive as well. We have seen plenty of PMD's and Caddis throughout the river and a few Sallies further down stream. Some fish are willing to eat Hoppers and other terrestrials like flying ants, but it will take a bit more work to find those fish.
