Our Utah fly fishing reports offer a brief overview of current conditions on our waters. You'll find fishing reports for the main Utah rivers and streams that we guide on and fish regularly. Reports for the Lower Provo, Middle Provo, Weber River, Green River and Small Streams are included.
We write the reports based on our daily experiences on the water and information received from customers. We update the reports as conditions change and our schedule permits. If you don’t see what you are looking for, please give us a call at the shop or contact us here. We are always happy to update you with current conditions on many other Utah waters and fisheries in surrounding states as well.
Following are the latest reports in descending order of when they were last updated. As a result, you may see multiple reports on the same destination if we haven't updated one of the other destinations recently. If you want to view previous fishing reports, you can click on the category name link under the report title or use the dropdown menu in the top navigation or follow the links in the sidebar. You can also use the following links to each category: Lower Provo, Middle Provo, Weber River, Green River and Small Streams :
Location Area Small Streams Overview Access to some small streams is starting to open up and over the next few weeks we should see some more become available. Most rivers are high as we see peak runoff but that should subside in the next 2 or so weeks. If you make it out, look for caddis, beetles and flying ants. Running a dry dropper should be productive with midges or caddis sub-surface. Latest Flows For up to date stream flows you can check out: https://waterdata.usgs.gov/ut/nwis/current/?type=flow Fishing Good Current Hatches Small terrestrials Caddis Beetles Ants Best Techniques Dry Fly Fishing Dry Dropper Best Time Of Day Early morning - mid day Late afternoons closer to sun down
Location Weber River Overview The Weber river between Rockport and Echo reservoirs is currently at a flow of 25 CFS. This is a low flow and we have yet to see any sort of simulated run off. These lower flows make the fishing tricky. We have seen some caddis and midges here and there but the bite is iffy regardless if you are dry flying or nymphing. Latest Flows ~25 CFS Fishing conditions Slow Current Hatches Sowbug (16-22) Midges (20-24) Caddis (18-20) Best Time Of Day Early mornings, late afternoons
Location Lower Provo River Overview The Lower Provo is at hovering around 500 CFS and the fishing is good! Early mornings we have been seeing midges, nymphing for these fish has been more productive but there is some dry fly opportunity. Around mid-day blue wings make an appearance and the dry fly fishing picks up. Around sun down the fishing slows down. Nymphing sow bugs has been very productive and consistent. Look for rising fish if you want to throw dries. Fishing Good Current Hatches Sow Bugs (18-22) Baetis (22-26) Blue Wings (22-26) Midges (22-24) Best Techniques nymphing, dry fly TIme of day Sun up to Sun down
Location Middle Provo River Overview Not much has changed on the river in the last month. Flows are still around 315 CFS above River Road Bridge. Below the bridge/diversion flows are around 215 CFS. On any given day, nymphing small midges, BWO's, and baetis is the more productive option. On cloudy/stormy days you can find some BWO's making an appearance but the dry fly eat is hit or miss. There are some caddis in the water but we have yet to see a proper hatch. Latest Flows Dam: ~315 River Road Bridge: ~215 Fishing Good Current Hatches Midges Blue Winged Olives Baetis Best Patterns Sow Bugs (20-24) Midges (20-24) Baetis (22-26) Blue wings (22-26) Caddis (20-22) Best Time Of Day Sun up to Sun down
Location Middle Provo River Overview Flows on the Middle Provo are at 315 CFS. Fishing has been productive with nymphing midges being much more productive throughout the day. The river has been fishing consistently all day with slight lulls here and there. There are some Blue Wings hatching, but the hatch is sporadic, so look for those fish looking up if you want to throw dry flies.
