Our Utah fly fishing reports offer a brief overview of current conditions on our waters. You'll find fishing reports for the main Utah rivers and streams that we guide on and fish regularly. Reports for the Lower Provo, Middle Provo, Weber River, Green River and Small Streams are included.
We write the reports based on our daily experiences on the water and information received from customers. We update the reports as conditions change and our schedule permits. If you don’t see what you are looking for, please give us a call at the shop or contact us here. We are always happy to update you with current conditions on many other Utah waters and fisheries in surrounding states as well.
Following are the latest reports in descending order of when they were last updated. As a result, you may see multiple reports on the same destination if we haven't updated one of the other destinations recently. If you want to view previous fishing reports, you can click on the category name link under the report title or use the dropdown menu in the top navigation or follow the links in the sidebar. Location
Area Small Streams
Overview
No change here. The area small streams are at a low water level. Right now is not really the time to be fishing the small streams. Stick to the tailwaters in the area like the Provo or Green. The small streams will be better in the spring and early summer.

Location
Lower Provo River
Overview
The Lower Provo is flowing at ~104 cfs right now and will most likely remain at that flow for the duration of the winter. The fishing is good though. Nymphing will be the most productive, as always. Try to target the BWO hatch which is typically mid day. Like the middle, the dry fly fishing can be technical with these small bugs, so size down your tippet to 6X or 7X and lengthen that leader.

Location
Green River Below Flaming Gorge Dam
Overview
The Green is flowing around 960 cfs out of the Flaming Gorge Dam. It is likely that the flow will remain at this level or even lower for the duration of the winter. The fishing is good and getting better. The streamer bite is on, so get ready to throw some big flies. Nymphing should be a good option too. The fish are spawning so we recommend avoiding fishing to redds.

Location
Middle Provo River
Overview
Winter has come, the flow of the Provo has dropped, and the spawn is on. That being said, fishing is pretty good right now. Just watch out for the brown trout spawning beds, stepping on them can interfere with their reproduction. Fishing to trout on redds can interfere too, so we recommend if you see a redd (spawning bed) then move along and fish somewhere else. The midges and baetis (BWOs) are still here and will remain a decent food source for now. As always, sub surface will be the most productive. Try out some of the smaller nymphs in your box, size 22-26. Most days there will be a midday baetis hatch, so nymph your emergers. Midges will be on the menu all day. The dry fly fishing can be pretty technical with these small bugs, so size down your tippet to 6X or 7X and try to fish a longer leader than normal.
